The first thing to say about Craps is that you should study all the ways to bet and the rules, so that you don't get confused. Essentially the game involves everyone around a table tossing a pair of dice in turn. The first throw is called the Come Out roll and should you get 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12, you win. Alternatively you can roll 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 (called a Point ) in which case you can roll again.
The Craps table has two side areas (identical to one another) that are marked with these names: Pass and Don't Pass line bets; Come and Don't Come bets; Odds bet; Place bets and Field bets. The center of the table is reserved for 'Propositions' where you make a Proposition bet.
Winning/losing plays
Pass Bets / Don't Bets - In a Pass Bet, you win in a Come Out bet by getting 7 or 11 (you lose with 2, 3, or 12). If you Don't Bet, you reverse the situation, winning with 2 or 3 and losing with 7 or 11. Should you get a 12, you reach the Don't Bets Tie - and can roll the dice again.
Types of bets
Pass Line Bet - Should you get 7 or 11, this is called a 'Natural Win'. By contrast, getting 2, 3, or 12 is a 'Natural Loss' (also called Craps). If you make a Come Bet , this signifies that you bet once you have fixed the Point on the Pass Line.
Odds on Pass Line Bet - Assume that you have got a Point . Now you can make a second bet. If you select the Come Bet and not the Pass Line bet, this is called the Odds on Come Bet . However you cal also select the Don't Come Bet . In this case, winning numbers are 2 or 3 and losing numbers are 7 or 11.
Place Bets - This is what you call the bet once you have fixed the Point and rolled 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10.
Field Bets - Also called the 'All-or-Nothing' Bet, because everything depends on one roll of the dice. You are looking for 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12. Big Six, Big Eight Bets - If you are right that 6 or 8 will turn up before 7, you win on 1:1 odds.
