Poker is one of the most popular online casino games and can be found in many different variations. However, all these variations are based on the same basic principles, which are easily explained by means of the 5-Card Draw game.
Poker uses all 52 cards in the pack, with Aces scoring high followed by King, Queen and Jack. While suits are important, no single suit has predominance.
The cards are dealt by the Dealer to the players, one card at a time until everyone hold 5 cards.
Ranking order of Poker hands
Royal Flush - The sequence in the same hand from Ace down to 10 the hardest to get.
Straight Flush - Any sequence in the same hand that is outside the Royal Flush. Also hard to get.
Four of a Kind - One card from each suit, 4 Aces being the best.
Full House - A combination of 2 of a kind and 3 of a kind.
Flush - All cards from same suit but don't need to follow a numerical sequence.
Straight - All cards in numerical sequence but don't need to be from the same suit.
Three of a Kind - One card from each suit.
Two Pair - The higher pairs will win.
One Pair - Winning pair here is A-A
High Card - Should nobody have a better hand, the player with the top-scoring single car wins.
Basic Rules
1) Place money into a central 'pot' to join a poker game. You are dealt 5 cards.
2) Review your hand to determine how many you want to exchange.
3) Play the game with one of these bids:
Open: This is the term for the player who starts the bidding.
Check : If you prefer to have somebody else start the bidding.
See : Place the equivalent amount in the pot as other players, to stay in the game.
Raise : Raise your bet over that of the others - who will need to match it.
Fold : This says that you wish to leave the game. You lose your opening bet amount.
4) After all cards are distributed and bets made, a player can exchange up to 3 cards. All cards are passed 'face down'. 5) The player with the highest-ranking hand wins.
